Earlier today I was able to take my four year old daughter and join several of the WingSwept team to help volunteer for a local service project called “Packages for Patriots”. As the name would imply we were assembling care packages for troops overseas. This was put together originally by a local businessman, Ralph Smith of Cottman Transmission, whose son is in the Army and has served in combat in Iraq. The volunteers were thankfully out in force this morning so it only took about an hour to assemble all of the boxes. Our limitation was the supplies available with the monies donated to date. This is not a good year for charities like Packages for Patriots with the economic conditions. My hope is that someone reading this will realize that this is a good cause and that our soliders still need support despite the economy and will feel led to contribute. If you would like to contribute please contact me for more details at 919.600.5114 or read the letter written by Ralph Smith.

Jay, thanks for your help on Saturday and Ralph just shared the website you’ve proposed with me. WOW! The first thing I asked two years ago was if we had one. Thanks for your work on this and for seeing the need.
